How to tell a water heater is on its way out
A water heater usually sends up warning signs before it fails outright. Water that runs lukewarm one day and scalding the next, a rumble or popping sound from the tank, rust or corrosion on the fittings, or water pooling around the base are all reasons to have someone look at it before a morning without hot water. Most tanks are built to last around 11 years, so age on its own is a factor too.
If a unit is past that mark and needs a repair more often than it used to, replacing it usually costs less over time than patching it again.

Repair, or replace: how we decide
The decision comes down to the tank's age and condition, not a script. A younger unit with a failed thermocouple or a bad heating element is usually worth repairing. A tank in its second decade with rust working through the shell is not, and we will say so plainly.
When replacement is the right call, we install tank, tankless and electric water heaters. Our counter on Turnpike Road keeps hot water tanks in stock, so a like-for-like swap often does not have to wait on a special order the way it would with some other shops. Rheem is one of the brands we carry.

What is covered after the install
Every new water heater installation comes with a 1-year warranty, and other warranties are available on top of that if you want the extra coverage. We aim for service within 1-2 business days and can usually give you an estimate as soon as the next day.
